In 1702, Peter the Great prepared and implemented a military operation, moving his troops from the White Sea to the lakes of Onega and Ladoga. His path led through the villages of Vorenzha and Sumozero, villages that have been included in the historic and cultural territory of Sumozero. Here the traditional country settlements and peasant architecture have been well preserved: cemeteries and chapels, houses, saunas, and granaries. The move of the troops has been recorded in Pomor stories and legends such as «Osudar’s Road. «Many legends have been preserved that tell about Peter the Great’s stay in Pomor villages. Along „Osudar’s Road“ the Belomor-Baltic channel currently runs.
