The village is located on a hill by the Kirga River. Three mills were once located there. The older inhabitants say that the village festival Duhanpäiv (Day of the spirits) is held on the Monday after the Day of the Trinity.
Kirga village was destroyed in ’70 s. Several houses have been moved to other villages. The others were sawn up to be used as firewood. If you walk along the old road by the former state fur farm, you will come to one of the most beautiful places, called by the youth ‘the Local Hawaii. ’ It is a large glade by the Kirga River. The river runs noisily there over the rapids. In a river bend Lindupeza is located. It is a place where water birds build their nests, but next to it is the favourite place of snakes — grass snakes and vipers make their nests there.By the beginning of May, smelt is being fished in this river bend. These fish are small here, 10 to 15 centimetres in length. These fish are then dried.
