Padany is the home of Fedor Terentyev, Olympic skiing champion. The house where the champion was born and raised has been preserved as has the tourist and sports trail along which Fedor every day walked or skied to school (14 km). The Olympic champion has been buried here in Padany as well. A memorial complex has been set up over Terentyev’s tomb. Annually a sports competition ’Ski Run of Terentyev’ is organised in honour of the famous countryman. Every craftswoman knows how to knit a three-fingered skier’s glove, which has become a symbol of the village as well as a souvenir.
