Saviour’s Day, or Saviour of the Apple Feast Day

This open air celebration turns into an excursion all over the village, about 8 km altogether, accompanied by songs and dances. This will allow you to become familiar with special features of the farmstead-type buildings of Karelian villages.

Fruit trees, such as apple trees, were first introduced to the Segozerye region in Padany. Older inhabitants can tell you why they were planted here first. They can also tell you about the pagan ritual of sacrifice held on Mahoshoori Island in Lake Seletsky. Should the weather permit, you might be able to visit this ritual island by Karelian wooden boat.
