The Center of National Culture and Folk Art of the Republic of Karelia was established in 1992 as the Republican Center of National Cultures in order to promote the development of the traditional cultures and languages of the peoples of Karelia. In 2010, after reorganization, the Center was given its current name.

Priorities:

— preservation of the intangible and spiritual heritage of the peoples of the Republic of Karelia;

— preservation and development of the language and cultural identity of indigenous peoples;

— support for public national culture associations;

— development and implementation of regional, interregional, and international projects;

— organization of courses and talks on the traditional culture of the indigenous peoples of Karelia;

— guidance and support to cultural institutions and public associations.
