Most inhabitants of Veps villages have a black sauna. A black sauna is a low hut with a tiny window, low door, and high threshold. That is why steam in this sauna is mostly contained near the floor. Inside, near the entrance is an oven built from stone. Saunas of this type are the most hygienic of all. These saunas are heated for a long time, four hours or longer. You can discover the peculiarities of black sauna bathing and the benefits of steam if you try a Veps sauna at least once.
