Once upon a time, the road led through Veshkelitsa to Petrozavodsk. Traders arrived for the fair from the nearest villages and from further afield to sell their goods and buy anything they might need. This tradition has been known for a long time. The fair was known for the lake fish and cooper’s goods sold by the locals. From elsewhere, salt and flour were brought to Veshkelitsa.
The festival begins with a service in the chapel. After that, guests may enjoy the festival program with performances by folklore ensembles. In the evening, an ethnic event is organised in the square. Folk groups take part in it, singing songs in both Karelian and Finnish.
Various items, souvenirs, and freshly baked goods can be bought at the fair.
It is a given that all visitors will be in an excellent mood.
